When you increase the performance of your Ford engine, in many cases you will choose to install a high pressure or high volume oil pump. These types of pumps result in more power being required to turn them. One component that shouldn't be overlooked is the oil pump driveshaft. The ARP oil pump driveshaft is not only thicker than the OE unit, it is also manufactured from heat treated chromoly steel which is much stronger than the OE materials.
