The dust boot serves as a protective layer for the piston rod, preventing damage and keeping foreign debris from entering the shock absorber. This feature, coupled with its smooth compression and durable construction, makes it a valuable addition to the shock absorber. (Certain models may use their original equipment dust boots.)
